How do I use it?

Here's how...
  1. Go to Messaging -> Send Text on your phone.
  2. Text the word JOIN to TXTCHT (that's 898248), then follow the instructions in the text message we send back to you.
  3. Once your registration is complete you'll receive additional messages with instructions and a list of chat rooms.
  4. That's it. Now you can enter the room of your choice, search for users, and chat it up.

How much does it cost?

It costs 10¢ for each message you send and receive.

Do these messages count against my monthly TXT total?

No. Chat>Park Text messages do not count towards your monthly TXT messages.

How do I get started?

The first time you join, you'll get a welcome message with basic instructions on how to use the service after you complete the registration process. You'll also receive a list of available chat rooms in a separate text message, and you'll automatically enter a "general chat" room.

What keywords can I use?

You can use the following keywords by sending the keyword as a text message to TXTCHT (that's 898248):

JOIN: Starts a Chat>Park Text session on your phone.

MAIN: Exits your current chat room and brings you to the top level of Chat>Park Text.

LIST: Sends you a list of available chat rooms.

ENTER <room name> Moves you to the new room you've selected.

IGNORE <user name> or BLOCK <user name> : Blocks all messages from that user.

SEARCH <Min Age> <Max Age> <Gender> Searches for a particular chat user. For example, "SEARCH 22 28 F". The minimum age that can be entered in a search is 18. Once your search results appear, you can text MOVE <username> to move to the room where that person is currently chatting, or PROFILE <username> to see that person's profile. From there you can send them a one-on-one message by entering SEND <username> and then typing your message.

CONTACTS: Manage your contacts.

QUIT: Ends the current Chat>Park Text session but enables you on the service to receive one-on-one messages.

The following commands can be used once you enter a specific chat room:

CHAT: Sends a message to the entire room.

SEARCH: Same as above but only searches within the room.

EXIT: Brings you out of the room and back to the top level of Chat>Park Text.

How can I quit Chat>Park Text?

Just text QUIT to 898248 and you'll no longer be listed as an active user and your name will no longer be included in people's search results. You will still be able to receive one-on-one messages from users who have added you to their contacts list.

Is there a limit to how long each message can be?

Yes. Each message can be up to 160 characters long, including spaces.

Can I block a specific person from chatting with me?

Yes. Just send "IGNORE <user>" to 898248. This will keep the person from messaging you in the current chat room.

If the person is still bothering you after you leave the room, send COMPLAIN <username> and a short message explaining the situation to 898248. For example, "COMPLAIN Johndoe won't stop bothering me."
