I have VirginXtras, how do I turn Txt2Member On?

From your phone:
  1. Select VirginXtras under your phone's Main Menu.
  2. Select *MTV, then Txt2MTV, and then Txt2Member.
  3. If your Virgin Mobile phone is linked to your MTV.com member name, you will see Txt2Member is ON.
    If your Txt2Member feature is not turned on, select Turn On.
    a. If your Virgin Mobile phone is not linked to your MTV.com member name, verify your MTV.com membership by selecting I'm A Member.
    b. Enter your MTV.com member name and password.
  4. Select OK after you receive confirmation that says Txt2Member is On.
From MTV.com:
  1. Click Edit Profile at the top of any MTV.com screen and follow the instructions.
  2. Click Turn on Txt2Member at the top of your member profile.
  3. If your MTV.com account and your Virgin Mobile phone number are linked, click on Turn On to activate the Txt2Member feature.
  4. After you click Turn On, a confirmation screen that says Txt2Member is On will appear. Click OK.
  5. If your MTV.com member profile is not linked to a Virgin Mobile phone, click Add Phone Number and follow the instructions.
  6. After you add your phone number, you will see a confirmation screen that says Txt2Member is On. Click OK to close the window, or Turn Off to turn off the Txt2Member feature.
  7. Once you have activated Txt2Member, Text Me on My Cell Phone will appear in your MTV.com profile.

I have VirginXL, how do I turn Txt2Member On?

From your phone:
  1. Select VirginXL under your phone's Main Menu.
  2. Select *MTV, then Txt2MTV, and then Txt2Member.
  3. If your Virgin Mobile phone is linked to your MTV.com member name, you will see Txt2Member is ON.
    If your Txt2Member feature is not turned on, select Turn On.

2. Click Turn off Txt2Member at the top of your member profile.
3. You will see a confirmation screen that says Txt2Member is Off. Click OK.
4.Once you have turned off Txt2Member, Text Me on My Cell Phone will disappear from your MTV.com profile.

How do I read and reply to Txt2Member messages from my phone?

It's the same as when you send and receive a regular text message. Don't know how to do that? Click here. Don't forget, you will also get a copy of the message in your MTV.com member profile Inbox.

How do I send text messages to other members mobile phones from MTV.com?

Click on Text Me on My Cell Phone on the top of another member's MTV.com profile. The Compose screen for Txt2Member does not allow you to enter as many characters. An alert will let you know when you've reached your limit. Only the text within the allowed number of characters will appear on the phone. The entire message, however, is visible in the recipient's MTV.com Inbox. When you hit Send, a confirmation that your message was sent to the recipient's Virgin Mobile phone and MTV.com inbox will appear.

How about some tips?

  • To use Txt2MTV, you must be an MTV.com member with a Virgin Mobile phone number that is connected to your MTV.com member name.
  • To become an MTV.com member, click Join at the top of any MTV.com screen and follow the instructions.
  • To get a Virgin Mobile number, you've gotta have a Virgin Mobile phone. Click here to get one.
  • When you send a message, keep it brief. A long-winded message will get cut off on the phone, but the entire message will appear in their MTV.com inbox.
