Why does the screen go to idle after I hit "view" after I receive a picture message?

Depending on the size of the message, sometimes it may take a little bit longer to download the entire message. When the download is complete, the picture message will pop up on the screen.

Why does my message counter say "1" after I've read all my messages? And how do I reset the counter to 0?

A received picture message triggers the message counter to say "1".

Please note that this happens only on rare occasions and only happens the first time. If the user simply deletes all messages within the folder the counter is reset to 0. Once this corrective action is executed the user will no longer experience this.
